Item Islamic Perspectives in Approaching Literature: Representation of Muslim Life and Practices in Palli Kabi (Country Poet) Jasimuddin’s Poetry(Centre for Research on Islamic Management and Business, 2013-12) Ahmed, Mohammad KaosarAbstract: Jasimuddin holds a distinguished position in the history of Bangla Poetry. He was able to clasp a distinguished entity as a poet living in the era of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. He is oft-quoted as Palli Kabi (Country Poet) because of his exquisite presentation of the rural Bengal. While celebrating him as a country poet, we often disregard the Islamic themes and beliefs presented in his poetry. This paper is an attempt to read Jasimuddin from Islamic perspectives which will reveal that Muslim practices and culture are entrenched in his poetic self which most Jasimuddin critics overlooked and sometimes ignored.
