Item Nature of errors and mistakes in the English writings of graduating students in Bangladesh: A case study((CRP), International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh,, 2021-02-13) Hoque, Muhammad AzizulThere is no denying that writing is quite tiresome in both second language teaching and learning situations. And so, selecting an appropriate strategy to provide the learners with necessary feedback in their writings seems to be a complicated task in language pedagogy. The present researchers observe that despite the writing practice of English for about 12 years in Bangladesh, the tertiary students commit mistakes and errors. They, therefore, feel numerous studies should be conducted to find an effective means of feedback for mistakes and errors the students make. Thus, this paper identifies the nature of mistakes and errors in their writings and finds out remedial procedures by means of knowing the factors contributing to the recurrence of these errors and mistakes year after year. To obtain data, some writing samples of paragraphs in groups, business letters, and letters of application have been taken from some undergraduate students of a university, and an opinion survey of teachers with an open-ended questionnaire has also been conducted. The study concludes with some pedagogical recommendations based on relevant concerns.Item Rule of law approach to alleviation of poverty: An analysis on human rights dimension of governance((CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh,, 2021-02-07) Khanam, TaslimaA society without rule of law is similar to a bowl having holes in it, so it leaks. Human beings take birth on land, live on land, die on land and mixes with land ultimately. As stated in the holy Quran: ‘We (Allah) created you (human beings) from the soil, we shall make you return to the soil and We shall call you back again from the soil’ (20:55). Human life is surrounded by soil i.e. land. So, land is a highly completed issue of human life involving economic, social, political, cultural and often religious systems. Land administration is thus a critical element and often a pre-condition for peaceful society and sustainable development. In administrating land, Khatian or record of rights plays a vital role to determine the rights and interests of the respective parties as supportive evidence. In this article, discussion is mainly made on the fact that Khatian or record of rights is not a document of title solely but it may be an evidence of title as well as possession.Item The effectiveness of SSC English syllabus in motivating students to achieve communicative competence: A case study((CRP), International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh,, 2021-02-07) Sima, Tahmina SultanaThis study aims at examining the effectiveness of present Secondary School Certificate (SSC) English syllabus in order to find out what role this syllabus plays in motivating students to achieve communicative competence. Using a mixed-method approach, I conducted this study by collecting data from eighty seven students of SSC level through a questionnaire, and from five English teachers by interviewing them. This study revealed that most of the students of SSC level are not motivated enough to achieve communicative competence, rather they memorize selected answers provided by their teachers or from their guide-books to secure a good Grade Point Average (GPA) in SSC examination. It further revealed that the present syllabus is effective in making students motivated only to some extent, and that is because of some activities provided in the syllabus. But yet students have not been able to achieve communicative competence as they do not practise these activities properly. Based on these findings, some steps have been recommended to overcome this problem.Item Impact of liquidity on banks’ productivity: A study on selected commercial banks in Bangladesh(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, 2021-02-07) Jahan, NazneenFinancial institutions are the directories responsible for allocating liquidity to its most productive uses.
