Item Adopting Factors of Electronic Human Resource Management: Evidence from Bangladesh(IEEE, 2016-10-28) Masum, Abdul Kadar Muhammad; Alam, Md. Golam Rabiul; Alam, Mohammed Shamsul; Azad, Md. Abul KalamThe incorporation of information technology (IT) instincts the legacy of human resource management (HRM) towards agile HRM. To achieve agility, this paper explores the factors or determinants inducing the organisation decisions to adopt electronic human resource management (eHRM) in organisations of Bangladesh through structural equation modeling (SEM) of data science. To realize the influencing determinants, a research model was developed based on technology-organisation-environment (TOE) model. A total number of 320 respondents were participated from 48 organisations in Bangladesh using simple random sampling. The SEM results indicate that perceived compatibility, perceived cost, top management support, organisational culture, centralisation, IT vendor support, and government support have significant influence on management decision of e-HRM adoption. The applied implication of the findings and the scope of future studies are deliberated at the end of this paper.Item Information Technology (IT) Ethics in the Light of Islam(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2012-12) Masum, Abdul Kadar Muhammad; Ullah, Md. Cholem; Azad, Md. Abul KalamGlobalization and digital convergence in the emerging knowledge society has raised complex ethical, legal and societal issues. We are faced with complex and difficult questions regarding the freedom of expression, access to information, the right to privacy, intellectual property rights, and cultural diversity. To overcome these issues, it requires qualified and educated IT (Information Technology) beneficiaries professionally and ethically. Professional organizations like ACM, IEEE and ABET have established codes of ethics to help IT professionals, especially end users to understand and manage their ethical responsibilities. Islamic ethics comprise moral principles and guidance that differentiate between right and wrong, which are comprehensive, stable, fair, and historically proved success in building ethically great societies. The estimated 1.5 billion of Muslims should have an effective role in IT related activities and life, which requires them to understand and implement ethics, specially the Islamic ethics in their IT related works. This paper is a roadmap for modeling the IT user principles, which show the main phases for solving such problems. It focuses mainly on adopting a new version of IT user principles based on Islamic ethical values.Item Mobile Commerce and Mobile Payment: A Study on Islamic Perspective(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2010-12) Islam, Md. Monirul; Masum, Abdul Kadar MuhammadElectronic commerce, very important part of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), is one of the most common business terms in use in 21st century. Developed countries are more popular because of their rapid growth of ICT, e-commerce and online transaction. But in developing or under develop countries the scenario is different. Technical laggings, dearth of infrastructure, infeasibility of the existing frameworks and people apathy are the main reasons behind this. There are several alternative ways of e-commerce and online transaction. Mobile payment, a way of online transaction, may be beneficial way of payment for developing countries because of its mobile network infrastructure. In this paper, a model of electronic payment system for M-Commerce has been proposed and analyzed the security for the system. This proposal may be suitable for developing countries where mobile phones are available but other e-payment tools like debit and credit cards are not much available. It also identifies what Islam has to say about our current use of M-Commerce and the way Islam can offer guidance for its use in the future. The paper also touches on the conditions and criteria that must be met in order to make an M-Commerce transaction acceptable under Islamic perspective.Item Use of Circular Malmquist Index (CMI) and Variable Returns to Scale (VRS-MI) in Productivity Measurement- a Comparative Study(Centre for Research on Islamic Management and Business, 2014-12) Azad, Md. Abul Kalam; Masum, Abdul Kadar Muhammad; Haque, Md. SharifulThis paper aims at comparing results between the circular Malmquist index (CMI) and the variable returns to scale Malmquist index (VRS-MI) from an even panel data. Based on the ground theory, the study purposefully uses comparative discussion on above mentioned methods. The contribution of the paper is on applied feature of using different methods at the same data set. The results of the study reveal that efficiency scores of VRS-MI is of higher value than that of CMI except major unit efficient Decision Making Units (DMUs). In case of some firms, the deviations are even in extreme points- highest gap is observed by 49.72%. From the perspective of the application, this paper focuses on deviate scores and therefore updates the relevant literature. The study covers data from 2009 to 2013 and uses one output- annual sales and three inputs; namely. (i) fixed asset; (ii) raw material; and (iii) salary expenses as variables
