The electrocardiogram is a medium to obtain physiological signal of remarkable diagnostic power. It bears a wide spectrum of information about a patient’s condition of pathophysiological individual state. In this work, a the wavelet transform based method has been proposed to analyze the ECG. The theory behind the Electrocardiogram (ECG) and the Wavelet (WT) was briefly reviewed and potential applications for using the WT to analyze the ECG were identified and summarized. Additionally, for performing ECG beat segmentation and subsequently extracting useful clinical parameters, an algorithm based on the WT was implemented. This algorithm was evaluated on ECG data, provided by the physionet which is real patient data. The results showed that the algorithm is able to detect subtle changes in the ECG for synthetic data with an accuracy of 98.30%. After performing the tests, these data is compared with the previous works, and this proposed system has been provided a promising outcome for biomedical research.en_US
