dc.description.abstractDesign and Implementation of a Home Automation System Using IoT Home Automation System gains popularity due to communication technology advancement. Smart home is one of the Internet of Things applications that facilitates the control of home appliances over the Internet using automation system. This paper proposes a low-cost Wi-Fi based automation system for Smart Home in order to monitor and control home appliances remotely using IoT based application. An Arduino Mega microcontroller provided with Wi-Fi module is utilized to build the automation system. In addition, several sensors are used to monitor the temperature, humidity and motion in home. A relay board is exploited to connect the home automation system with home under controlled appliances. The proposed automation system can easily and efficiently control the electrical appliances via Wi-Fi. This project proposes a low cost, secure, universally accessible, auto-configurable, remotely controlled solution. The approach discussed in the paper is original and Home Automation System achieved the mark to control home appliances remotely using the Wi-Fi technology to connect system parts, satisfying user needs and requirements. Wi Fi technology capable solution Home Automation System proved to be controlled remotely, provide home security and it is low cost as compared to the previous systems. The system design and architecture were discussed, and prototype presents the basic level of home appliance control and remote monitoring Home Automation System been implemented. Finally, the proposed system is better from the scalability and flexibility point of view than the commercially available home automation systems. Home Automation System gains popularity due to communication technology advancement.en_US
