Abstract

Leadership plays a prominent role in Islamic society as well as in the entire human society. Islam cannot be imagined without leadership, which is indicated by many texts of the holy Quran and Sunnah.But its problem originated in ancient times in human society with the beginning of collective interaction, development the science and technologyand distribution of power among individuals and multiple groups. All these have affected the development of the concept of leadership and its change through the ages. This development is a manifestation of the evolution of the human mind and the various human tendencies. The current era believes in leaders who work for the benefit of humanity. What is required of the leadership is that it always works for the human side and achieves production. The leadership bases its decisions on the scientific method that keeps pace with the developments of the times. In this article, we present the meaning of leadership, both linguistically and idiomatically, the factors that led to the change of the concept of leadership in the current era, and the special features of this concept, its types, elements, conditions and directives of Islam and its thinkers on the subject of leadership. We also talk about leadership positions in Islam and their conditions, features and responsibilities.
