Item Responsibility of family towards teaching ethics and morality for sustainable development in Bangladesh: A critical explanation from Tawhidic paradigm(CRP, Center for Research and Publication, 2018-12) Sarif, Suhaimi Bin Mhd.; Nabi, Ashiqun; Jahan, NusratThis paper, through a mixed-method approach (interview and survey questionnaire), investigates the responsibility of family towards teaching ethics and morality to children for sustainable development, specifically in Bangladesh. Reports and studies have shown that children have shown unethical and immorality practices due to a lack of education about Ethics and Morality, similar to those of tertiary-level graduates. This situation becomes an impediment to sustainable development. Malpractices, unethical behavior, and immorality actions are rampant reported in the mainstream news. Eventually, such a situation leads to non-sustainable development. The findings opined that the family has a fiduciary responsibility to teach Ethics and Morality to children. The respondents contended that the value-driven approach through the Tawhidic Paradigm (Unity of God) of teaching ethics and morality empowered society in Bangladesh with high ethical and moral conducts in decisions and actions. This study provides practical implications for policymakers and practitioners for socio-economic policies and practices in Bangladesh for sustainable development. The results of the study are contextually limited by the size of the samples, area, and robustness of the analysis.Item Ethical Issues in HR Profession: A Critical Assessment in the Context of Bangladesh(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, 2014-06) Uddin, Mohd. Because of the nature of the HRM function, HR-managers must frequently make and implement decisions with ethical implications. This explains why HR-managers want to make the HR-department the organizational locus of the responsibility for ethical behavior at work. During the process of making and executing HRM policies and practices, HR- managers however, are often torn as a result of strong conflicting pressures associated with the field. HR is partially about enhancing commitment and boosting control, training and manipulation, surveillance and upholding right to privacy, making provisions for 'whistle blowing' and policing disloyalty, empowerment and change, to mention a few. Other unethical issues involving favoritism in employment, inconsistencies in pay, sex and religious discrimination and breaches of confidentiality are faced by HR-managers on a regular basis. Downsizing and outsourcing often lead to problems in maintaining employee motivation and sense of well-being in the face of growing job insecurity. The fact is that they do face conflicts between morality and the motive for profit maximization. The motive for profit maximization induces the HR- professionals to violate ethical norms. These violations have most of the times been patronized by the employees of all levels of management, and even by the board or by directors individually and collectively. In particular, the paper argues that where regulatory compliances are sub- optimal, expecting ethical conduct is quite superfluous. There is no easy way to deal with these dilemmas. Cholem; Azad, Md. Abul KalamGlobalization and digital convergence in the emerging knowledge society has raised complex ethical, legal and societal issues. We are faced with complex and difficult questions regarding the freedom of expression, access to information, the right to privacy, intellectual property rights, and cultural diversity. To overcome these issues, it requires qualified and educated IT (Information Technology) beneficiaries professionally and ethically. Professional organizations like ACM, IEEE and ABET have established codes of ethics to help IT professionals, especially end users to understand and manage their ethical responsibilities. Islamic ethics comprise moral principles and guidance that differentiate between right and wrong, which are comprehensive, stable, fair, and historically proved success in building ethically great societies. The estimated 1.5 billion of Muslims should have an effective role in IT related activities and life, which requires them to understand and implement ethics, specially the Islamic ethics in their IT related works. This paper is a roadmap for modeling the IT user principles, which show the main phases for solving such problems. It focuses mainly on adopting a new version of IT user principles based on Islamic ethical values.
