Item Evaluation of an Anglo-Centric ELT Textbook in Bangladeshi Context: A Case Study(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2011-12) Kabir, Md. HumayunWith the advancement in human civilization and human understanding we are now bold enough to ask the value of and rationale for something imposed on us by any quarter. If carefully observed, it is evident that BANA (Britain, Australia and North America) country materials have dominated the ELT (English Language Teaching) related field for quite a long time. We anxiously notice that in these materials the socio-cultural background of the vast community of ESL/EFL users (learners and teachers) is grossly ignored. Since the learner’s background knowledge i.e. ‘schema’ is an issue of paramount importance in ELT, in this study our attempt is to assess and justify the suitability of the Anglo-centric ELT textbooks titled Foundation English Course (FEC) Book-I&II which is designed to teach the students of REC (Remedial English Course) programmed at IIUC (International Islamic University Chittagong).Item Performance Investigation of Three Precoding Methods for Maximal Energy Efficiency in Next Generation Wireless Communications System(IIUC Central Library, 2018-09) Kabir, Md. HumayunNowadays, Energy Efficiency (EE) has become a buzzword for future wireless communication systems. Consequently, Massive Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MMIMO) technology have attained a great attention for Multi-User Communication scenario. MMIMO systems are crucial to maximizing energy efficiency (EE) and batterysaving technology. Achieving EE without sacrificing the quality of service (QoS) is increasingly important for mobile devices. We first derive the data rate through three linear precoding: Maximum Ratio Transmission (MRT), Zero-Forcing (ZF), and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE). Performance EE can be achieved when all available antennas are used and when taking account of the consumption circuit power ignored because of high transmit power. The aim of this work is to demonstrate how to obtain maximum EE while minimizing power consumed, which achieves a high data rate by deriving the optimal number of antennas and number of users in the massive MIMO system. The consumed power of the system includes transmitting power, circuit power consumption, and idle power consumption. The circuit power consumption dominates the system power consumption when the transmitter is equipped with the massive number of antennas. Hence, to analyze this problem, we propose a power consumption model. Maximized EE depends on the optimal number of antennas and determines the number of active users that should be scheduled in each cell. The results show the optimization of Energy with respect to the number of functioning mobile users, number of assigned base stations and launch input power in the system respectively.Item The Role of Context in Teaching English to the Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)(CRP, International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2010-12) Kabir, Md. HumayunIn this article, we have tried to develop a clear concept of approach i.e.-language theory and learning theory and also presented the idea of method i.e. - a way of teaching a language which is based on systematic principles and procedures. Subsequently, we have tried to clarify the notion of context. In the discussion, I have attempted to explain why the consideration of contextual factors is vitally important in applying an approach or method by a language teacher while she/he teaches. I have also examined and given references to the context of my teaching experience in Bangladesh which are relevant to the thesis of this article.
